Kidding Around Yoga with Little Moon
After many years of being curious about the practice of yoga and meditation, Lisa sought out a class to manage the stress and overwhelm of becoming a newly qualified Primary School teacher in Scotland. She immediately felt connected to the practice and quickly felt the positive effects of learning how to be still and move mindfully in Vinyasa, Yin and Ashtanga classes.
Upon moving to Perth Australia in 2015, Lisa sought out a new ‘yoga home’ to help her to internally adjust to her new surroundings and fell in love with the strength of an Ashtanga Yoga practice and also discovered a contrasting love of restorative and meditation practices which she believes has been invaluable for her self-development and personal growth.
Recognising the power of the practice, Lisa began to incorporate aspects of yoga practices into primary school classrooms where she has taught children of ages 5-12 years old. She saw an increasing need to teach children tools to self-inquire and take a conscious pause in the busy schedule of the school day and beyond with many students experiencing anxiety, overwhelm and difficulties in self-regulation and emotional literacy. Many students would regularly ask for yoga and mindful moments throughout the day and particularly loved the practice of affirmation; many insightful discussions were started from using affirmation cards and short meditations, even at the lower Primary stage!
These small inclusions of yoga through the day were impacting her students and many parents responded that their children were bringing some of the teachings home with them too to pass onto their families.
Upon reflection of how the experience of yoga and mindfulness had impacted her and the students she taught so strongly, Lisa decided to undertake Hatha Vinyasa and Restorative yoga teacher training with a strong desire to share the experience of yoga with others. In order to deliver a yoga class specific to the needs of children, Lisa completed Kidding Around Yoga training and loves being part of the global KAY community; filled with people who share a common passion for creating happy and peaceful children! Her passion is yoga for young people, from toddlers to teens, and she believes wholeheartedly in the potential of yoga in nurturing happy, confident and compassionate future generations.
Lisa believes in the accessibility of KAY for allowing anyone who works or lives with young people to be able to deliver a confident, coherent, super fun class. So much so that she wants to share this training in Australia! In 2019 she began sharing her love of all things kid’s yoga and KAY to bring others onto this magical path!
